Café Lead
Position Summary
​
The Café Lead is responsible for café operations during scheduled events, ensuring the café is fully prepared, safely operated, and guest focused from setup through teardown. This role owns on site readiness, basic inventory and cash handling, food safety compliance, and post event reporting. The Café Lead works closely with leadership and takes ownership of café procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Event Preparation and Operations

Own pre event readiness, including setup, teardown, and verification that supplies, food, cash drawers, and equipment are fully prepared before doors open

Enforce approved menu execution and prevent unofficial menu changes during service

Maintain a welcoming, efficient, and customer focused café environment throughout each event

Support volunteers and staff during service to ensure smooth operations and clear expectations

Food Safety and Inventory

Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and health code standards are consistently met

Track food waste and spoilage at a basic level and adjust prep quantities based on observed traffic patterns

Track, count, and manage inventory with accurate records of stock, **sales, and losses**: They don't have to do this initially, I'm sure you and I would still be doing the overview of sales and losses, not sure if it should be stated or not anyways.)

Coordinate with leadership on supply needs, ordering schedules, and menu

Cash Handling and Reporting

Handle basic cash management and sales operation.

Document guest issues, refunds, safety incidents, or notable operational problems.

Requirements

Availability to work scheduled events, including evenings or weekends as needed

Reliable vehicle and ability to drive to pick up café supplies and food inventory

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move, load, and organize inventory as required

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently during events

Customer service mindset with the ability to remain calm and solutions oriented in a fast paced environment

This position is contract work. Currently its a very PT position, however in the Fall the number of hours will significantly increase.

Scenic Artist
Location: On Site – Capernaum Studios

We are seeking a skilled Scenic Artist to help transform blank stages into believable worlds. This role is essential in bringing visual concepts to life with precision, craftsmanship, and artistic discipline.
Position Overview
The Scenic Artist is responsible for executing the visual environment of our productions by painting and finishing scenery, backdrops, and set pieces. This is an on-site position working closely with scenic designers, production designers, and other members of the art department.
The ideal candidate combines strong artistic ability with technical skill, efficiency, and the ability to work under production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Scenic Painting and Finishing
· Apply base coats, textures, and detailed finishes to scenery, props, and large-scale backdrops
· Execute faux finishes such as wood graining, marbling, stonework, aging, and distressing
· Use trompe l’oeil and other illusion techniques to create depth and realism
Design Interpretation
· Translate two-dimensional renderings, sketches, and models into finished scenic elements
· Accurately match color palettes and maintain visual consistency with the designer’s vision
· Adjust techniques as needed to solve creative and logistical challenges
Sculpting and Texturing
· Sculpt and carve materials such as foam to create organic and architectural elements
· Add dimensional texture and surface detail to enhance realism
Maintenance and Shop Management
· Perform touch ups and maintain scenic elements throughout production runs
· Organize and maintain paint shop tools, materials, and workspace
· Manage paint inventory and supplies efficiently
Qualifications
· Strong foundation in drawing, painting, and sculpting
· Proficiency in scenic painting techniques including faux finishes and texture applications
· Deep understanding of color theory and color mixing
· Experience working with a wide range of materials used in scenic construction
· Ability to work at heights using ladders or scaffolding
· Physical stamina to handle extended periods of standing and manual work
· Strong collaboration skills and ability to take direction
· Ability to meet tight production deadlines without sacrificing quality
Work Schedule Expectations
· In person presence Monday through Friday during standard work hours
· Additional availability required based on studio activity, including film productions, rentals, and live events
Some weeks may require extended hours or additional days, including Saturdays and Sundays, depending on production schedules and event timelines.
Production schedules can shift quickly, so candidates must be comfortable working in a deadline driven environment and adjusting their schedule when projects require it.
This role requires flexibility and a team mindset to ensure sets, scenery, and production environments are completed on time and at the quality level required for filming and live events.
